Hello, My name is Kadance. I have been a Girl Scout with Gateway Council in Northern Florida for 12 years. The highest award a Girl Scout can achieve is the Gold Award. Girl Scouts who earn the Gold Award tackle issues that are important to them and drive lasting change in their communities and beyond.
For my Gold Award project, I wanted to create awareness about domestic violence. So many people are in abusive relationships and don’t even know it or don’t know how to remove themselves safely from those relationships.
This project, was to create a website to better educate domestic violence victims about abuse and their options. This website also assists victims by providing them with information and resources to help them take the next steps in leaving their harmful situation. The information about the legal system in my website is geared towards the State of Florida.
It is my hope that this website, in some manner, paves the way to a better future for domestic violence victims; either helping them understand the steps their legal case(s) will go through, preparing for court or just figuring out what the next safest step is to break the cycle of violence. Welcome to my project “Safe Route”.
