What About my Animals?

Florida Statute 741.30 (Domestic Violence IFPs) was amended commencing 7/1/20 to allow the Court to include in a temporary and final IFP the ability to order exclusive care, possession and control of an animal (owned by Petitioner, Respondent OR a minor child that lives in the home)

The Court can also order no contact with the animal

AND prohibit the:

  •    taking

  •    concealing

  •    encumbering

  •    transferring

  •    harming

  •    disposing

of the animal

This does NOT apply to agricultural animals (defined under section 193.461) and does NOT apply if it is Respondent's service animal (defined under section 413.08).
