Venue – means the proper place to file a court action.  In other words, the county that the case should be filed in.

A Domestic Violence injunction in Florida can be filed in the circuit where:

• The petitioner currently or temporarily resides; OR

• Where the respondent resides; OR

• Where the acts of domestic violence took place.

Note:  There is no minimum requirement of residence to petition for an injunction for protection.

A Stalking injunction in Florida can be filed in the circuit where:

• The petitioner currently or temporarily resides; OR

• Where the respondent resides; OR

• Where the acts of stalking took place.

Dating, Sexual and Repeat Injunctions in Florida can be filed in the county where:

• Where the respondent resides; OR
